Sparta 1 Watchwinder

Unlike other watchwinders which rotate a watch in order to wind it, the unique SPARTA 1 AC & DC watchwinders gently swings the watch instead.  Every 10 minutes (standard program) the internal control micro-processor signals the drive motor to make a single turn, causing the watch to swing back and forth for several oscillations just as it would if it were being worn on the wrist.

The 15 minute program (extended program) available on battery operated winders allows many watches that wind in both directions to remain fully wound while on the winder, providing increased battery life by as much as 50%.

The oscillating winding action of the SPARTA 1 watchwinder is totally self-regulating and there is absolutely no chance of damaging an expensive watch by over-winding.  A semi-circular rotor, attached to the back of the mounting cup, is the "heart" of the patented ROTORWIND® system (click here for details).  Made from a dense, non-magnetic iron material, it is supported by two free-turning precision ball bearings, thus enabling the heavy mass of the rotor to produce the "back and forth" motion when the cup is raised and then released from the 12 o'clock position.

These budget-priced free-standing open models are available in two attractive versions.  Chose from either silver anodized aluminum or a textured black leather-like cover.  Rubber feet prevent sliding or damage to delicate surfaces.  Click image for enlarged view.

The watch to be wound is easily mounted over a resilient foam cushion, which accommodates virtually any size watch with either leather strap or metal bracelet.  The cushion fits snugly into the drive cup, making it impossible for the watch to fall as the cup swings back and forth during the winding cycle.  The cup is easily removed to facilitate watch mounting.

The SPARTA 1 DC watchwinder shown on the right is powered by two (2) 1.5 volt, "D" cell alkaline batteries (click here for enlarged view).  As the drive motor only powers the first oscillation of each winding cycle, with all succeeding oscillations totally powered by gravity, battery drain on the motor is minimal.  Hence, the SPARTA 1 DC watchwinder is guaranteed to operate for a MINIMUM OF TWO YEARS without any need for a battery change.

The SPARTA 1 AC watchwinder is a revolutionary breakthrough in winder design. It employs a totally unique USA-made synchronous motor that rotates extremely slowly, turning at only SIX REVOLUTIONS PER HOUR ( 6 RPH, not 6 RPM ).This equates to one complete motor cycle every 10 minutes, exactly the same winding cycle as it's DC powered counterpart. For those who wish to keep their winder bedside, this AC powered unit is the perfect choice as its slow speed, high torque motor is totally silent in operation.. Powered by the supplied plug-in wall transformer which reduces standard 115 volt AC house voltage to a safe 24 volts AC  the winder conforms fully to both UL and CE safety requirements.
